Nutrition is being recognized more and more as great preparation for the medical profession. Recent graduate Jessica Reynoso knows this: she is one of the select students accepted to Dell Medical School's historic first class. Only 50 students (about 1% of applicants) were admitted to the program.

Jessica hails from Allen, Texas and a graduated with a BS in nutritional sciences in 2013. After spending time at Meals on Wheels in Central Texas, she was inspired to further her education with a medical degree:

"My time at Meals on Wheels increased my awareness of the social determinants of health some of the most vulnerable in our community face, and fueled my passion to serve this group and help them overcome these barriers. I came to the conclusion that medicine would allow me to combine my background in nutrition with my desire to intervene earlier on, when people are typically healthier and more capable of making meaningful changes."
