Learning by Experience with Photo Shoot for International Company

The Division of Textiles and Apparel has developed a strong internship program over the last 30 years, and, here, undergraduate Allie Chicoine reveals what she learned when dropped into a photo shoot in Austin.

What was your biggest AHA moment?

The photo shoot for Ikea was located at an empty, historical home in South Austin. Me, along with a few other ladies who work at Ikea, had to set up and stage the rooms with Ikea products and items that were made at Open Arms.

The pictures that were taken will be used in their catalog to promote refugee support and show their customers where and how these items are made. I enjoyed being there and helping with anything they needed, and I'm glad I had the opportunity to see what goes on behind the scenes and understanding just how important photo shoots are to a company.
