Dr. Wilson teaches upper and lower division courses in Textiles and Apparel and brings more than fifteen years of apparel industry and academic experience to her classes.  Her professional experience ranges from merchandising and media to event planning and retail management within the industry.  Dr. Wilson has taught numerous courses spanning the curriculum and strives to convey the many ways that the merchandising and design side of the industry are linked and are dependent upon each other.  Drawn to the industry at an early age her interests shaped her academic career and her opportunity to teach in UT's TXA department during her Master's degree coursework inspired her to pursue her Ph.D. within the discipline.  Her research centers on consumer behavior, in particular the ways that locally-owned retailers may positively impact downtown revitalization.  Dr. Wilson enjoys engaging with local community partners and bringing industry experts into her courses to provide the broadest learning experiences for her students along with supporting them as they develop their interests and talents into rewarding careers in the industry.  In her spare time she enjoys running, yoga, traveling and spending time with her husband, two children and their dog.
