Luisa Gil Fandiño is an English-trained Colombian textile designer whose design practice is grounded in creative approaches to material construction. Her research centers around incorporating geometry and algorithms to produce highly textural fabrics in Jacquard looms and embroidery. Her work has been exhibited, among others, in New Designers in London, premier Vision in Paris and ICFF in New York.

Luisa currently teaches Textiles for the Textiles and Apparel Program at UT Austin where she also is a visiting guest lecturer for the School of Architecture and the College of Fine Arts.  Luisa is also an Association of Textile, Apparel and Materials Professional (AATCC) faculty member.

Luisa has been a guest designer for companies and trade shows. She also works with architects to create one-of-a-kind pieces for different projects.

Through her company Fandindo, Luisa sells her own collection of fabrics at local stores and her finished textile products at museums stores like Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian in NY.

Luisa's work is featured in academic publications and books Crafting Textiles in the Digital Age  
(Bloomsbury, U.K.) and Artistry in Fiber: Wall Art (Schiffer Publishing, U.S.), as well as industry journals like Furniture Today and
Metropolis architectural journal.
