
Sonia K Gonzalez
Director, School of Public Health
Sonia K. González, DrPH has had a public health career spanning more than 25 years in the non-profit, philanthropy, higher education, and social impact sectors. She has primarily served young people aged 18 to 25 in NYC and taught in higher education since 2013. Her research has received support from the National Institutes of Mental Health (F31MH099924,R44GM150311 ). Sonia has published her research in peer-reviewed journals, presented findings at conferences and been a TEDx speaker. In 2021, Dr. González joined The University of Texas at Austin, where she is currently an Assistant Professor of Instruction and serves as Director of the Public Health Program.
Sonia works closely with leadership of the School of Human Ecology, where the public health program is managed.

Jaimie Davis
Interim Director, School of Human Ecology
Jaimie N. Davis, PhD, RD is a Full Professor in the Department of Nutritional Sciences at The University of Texas at Austin. With over two decades of experience, Dr. Davis’s research focuses on preventing and treating childhood obesity and related metabolic diseases through behavioral interventions, particularly among underserved youth. She holds a BS and PhD in Nutritional Sciences from UT Austin and completed her postdoctoral training at the University of Southern California, where she later joined the faculty.
Dr. Davis has led numerous NIH- and foundation-funded randomized controlled trials, including community and school-based interventions. Her work has been published in over 100 peer-reviewed journals and has demonstrated the effectiveness of garden-based nutrition programs in improving dietary intake, reducing metabolic risk, and enhancing food security in high-risk populations.
