Current UT Student (non-CNS major)
If you are a current UT student enrolled in a college other than Natural Sciences, and are interested in a Human Ecology major, you will need to go through the Internal Transfer Application process. CNS accepts applications during the spring application cycle only (deadline May 1st) for fall admission. More information about that process can be found here:
https://cns.utexas.edu/info-undergraduate-students/academics-advising-policies/internal-transfer
Most Human Ecology courses are not reserved to majors, although current majors will receive priority into open seats if a course is waitlisted (add yourself to waitlists as needed). If you experience any issues adding Human Ecology courses, please email us at headvising@austin.utexas.edu and include your EID.

Advising Tips:
Nutrition:
- NTR 312 Introduction to Nutritional Sciences is the majors version of introductory nutrition, and any major can add/waitlist for this (prereqs: C- or better SDS 302F or 320E, and CH 301; C- or concurrent registration in CH 302, BIO 311C). NTR 306 Fundamentals of Nutrition is the non-majors version of introductory nutrition. If NTR 306 is completed with a grade "A" before becoming a nutrition major, it will be allowed to substitute and fulfill the NTR 312 degree requirement. It is recommended to try to take NTR 312 if possible though, and use the waitlist as needed. NTR 312 is also typically offered in first summer session in-person.
- If you are interested in the Dietetics pathway to become a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN), please review the sample degree plans on the lefthand menu for BS Nutrition Option 1 (Dietetics). Also read the information on this page to learn more about the Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) and the Integrated Coordinated Program in Dietetics (ICPD) options:
