Apparel Design Program students and alumni take on internships in the summer, and Phoebe Hambright is no exception. Hambright recently graduated from UT Austin, and her designs were included in the spring fashion show, Synthesis. She also cycled 4,000 miles a few summers ago to raise money as part of Texas 4000. This summer, she is working for Brandon Maxwell where—yes—she's had some interesting errands to run.

What are you learning with your internship?

Interning at Brandon Maxwell has been an exceptional experience. I've been tangibly involved with all the departments including sales, production, product development, design and operations. Not only have I gained experience in these areas, but also friendships. This photo to the right includes me with my pattern maker friend Jeffrey.

What special projects have you done?

One of my favorite errands so far was picking up clothes for Lady Gaga. But the most fantastic task and opportunity I have had with the company this summer was my involvement with the FW '17 campaign shoot. For an entire Saturday in the Penthouse at One Hundred Barclay, Brandon directed several video shoots of models wearing his clothes. In one of the photos you can see the chaos that took place while trying to get the technical and lights team and movers up to the penthouse to set up, with only one non-freight elevator available for use!! And finally the other photo shows the view from the penthouse. It was a really cool day and the videos officially released on July 19th, 2017 on Instagram and his new website. This was a success, and so was the whole summer!
