We caught up with undergraduate Katherine Kykta who is working towards a degree in Merchandising and Consumer Sciences with a minor in Business and Digital Arts and Media.  She expects to graduate in Spring 2018 and has a summer internship as a Men's Wholesale Merchandising Intern at Nautica. She secured this summer internship through the Fashion Scholarship Fund, an internship that is in addition to the one she will complete next spring as part of her degree.

Katherine recently answered a few questions about working at Nautica in a social media post:

What job duties are you performing at your internship?

Over the past three weeks I have been working with my team to finalize Summer 2018 and assort the line list and prepare the showroom for Spring 2018 to present to sales and then eventually go to market.

What have you learned that you were not expecting?
I am learning that retail moves fast. There is work being done in 4 seasons at once and it is important to be able to speak to the product in each season.

What do you hope to do after graduation?
Still deciding!

Advice for TXA students?
Get internships in as many different areas of fashion as you can, so you can see which area suits you best before you graduate.
