Nancy B Prideaux

M.S. in Management, Houston Baptist University
B.S. in Textiles and Apparel, The University of Texas at Austin

Nancy Prideaux’s teaching philosophy and methodology are like a double-cloth, a fabrication method in which two layers of cloth are woven on the loom at the same time, one on top of the other. In the weaving process, the two layers of woven fabric are held together using binder threads or are interwoven. Her primary goal in the classes she teaches is to be the thread that joins both the knowledge and skills in the topic area with the enthusiasm about the subject to allow students to not only learn about the topic but also learn about themselves.

Ms. Prideaux works directly with the Retail Merchandising Internship Program, placing and supervising senior students completing the academic field experience sequence during their senior year. She serves as the program director for our UT in NYC Conference and Seminar and works directly with the legendary Iris Apfel.  UT in NYC is one of the extraordinary undergraduate experiential learning opportunities provided in the School of Human Ecology.

Her service to the Austin community includes The Junior League of Austin, Town Lake Park Project, Leadership Austin, the Central Texas Region Arthritis Foundation and past service to SafePlace and The legendary Paramount Theatre. She currently serves the state of Texas as a board member of the Friends of the Governor’s Mansion and she is an active docent for the Governor’s Mansion.
