Reem Ghaddar

Davis Lab

Reem Ghaddar is a PhD candidate under the mentorship of Dr. Jaimie Davis. In the Davis Lab, Reem serves as the blood and wet lab manager. She is responsible for the management and data collection of blood draws on the TX Sprouts project, as well as organization, supervision, and training of all staff and volunteers assisting with blood draws and blood processing. Reem is also trained on time-on-task observation, accelerometer use, and 24-hour dietary recalls, and has assisted extensively with the collection of this data. 

Reem holds a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics, with a minor in English, from the American University of Beirut. She is also a certified phlebotomist.

Reem's research interests include the testing and diagnosis of prediabetes in low-income minority youth populations, childhood nutrition education, health of refugee populations, effectiveness of educational interventions in disadvantaged populations, and the role of physical activity in youth obesity and prediabetes prevalence and prevention.
