Shabrish, Vasavi

Vasavi Shabrish

Bray Lab

Prior to coming to UT, Vasavi received an M.S. in Food and Nutrition and B.S. Integrated Home-Science from Bangalore University, India. Her thesis project focused on standardizing methods to prepare pre-and pro-biotic lassi (Indian beverage made of yogurt) fortified with vitamins, iron, and fiber. She worked at Karnataka Institute of Diabetology (India) as a Certified Diabetes Educator in providing nutritional knowledge and self-management skills for type 1 and type 2 individuals with diabetes in rural and urban settings.

Vasavi's research is focused on investigating the molecular changes associated with acute exposure to a rotating shift work model in mice. The findings of this research will help her in the development of strategies to facilitate the re-entrainment of circadian rhythms. Her future goal is to translate these research findings to human shift workers to help improve their health and well-being.
