Mary Jamsek is a Master Teacher at the Priscilla Pond Flawn Child and Family Laboratory (Older Afternoon Group, 4 and 5 year-olds). Her work in the classroom is equal parts providing a learning environment for young children and supervising undergraduate students placed in the classroom for field experiences. (Older afternoon group, 4 and 5 year olds). She has been teaching for 25 years, working with children preschool through high school aged in a variety of settings including public school, private school, child-care centers, human services agencies, and the Early Childhood Center at Cornell in Ithaca, New York, and is an adjunct faculty member at Austin Community College teaching in the Child Development department. Classes include Family and Community, CDA, Child Guidance, The School Aged Child, and Creative Arts. Ms. Jamsek works of behalf of young children through service with the Association for the Education of Young Children at the local, state, and national levels. She presents at conferences as well as providing workshops for teachers of young children and consulting with early childhood programs in the areas of curriculum development, early literacy, guidance, play, children and power, social development, and reusable materials. Her interests include play, literacy, and the social development of children.
